The IBA research repository is an online platform which will serve as a one stop resource for housing related research. The body of research responds to Plan Melbourne 2017-2050 and the affordable as well as generational housing crisis. It will serve as a nexus for historical, current and future thinking on housing in Australia, accessible to practice, academics, policy-makers, and the public, the research repository will:

  • disseminate housing ideas, past present and future and consider how they might integrate into our current and future built environment,
  • collate built, unbuilt, and theoretical projects and collaborative projects through partnership initiatives
  • share housing-related media, news links, events, and collateral,
  • and provide a forum for community discussion with local governance and stakeholder inclusion, both internally and externally.

We are currently inviting submissions for inclusion in the IBA research repository. The submission could be literary, visual collateral, photographic or computer-generated imagery, but ideally featuring a broad mix of material regarding each project submitted. Please submit a maximum of 5 projects. All content will be attributed to the author with links to contact information and social media links.

Submissions should be emailed to:

IBA Melbourne will shape the future of affordable housing and showcase Victoria on a global platform.

“Championing good housing can, and should, become a source of pride for our politicians rather than an electoral liability. The problems are complex, deep-rooted and inter-related, but not incurable”.
